my toy FX :: 2004 Infiniti FX35 AWD

been driving for 3 weeks with no grill, finally painted it and came out pretty good... not 100% but damn good enough... my lesson learned from this experience, well i figured out how to professionally spray paint lol

steps taken
100 grit then 150 grit to sand down chrome.. 6 layers krylon fusion gloss black spray paint, wetsand with 600 grit... 6 layers krylon fusion clear coat, wetsand 600 grit, 1000, 1500, 2000 n 2500 grit and this is what it looks like

came out dull and lacking shine and luster..

so i decided to use a medium cut compound n wetsand with 2000 grit n then compound and buff.
as seen on the left post compound n buff.. on right prior

after compounding and buffing, i used Meguiars Ultimate Polish and polished every nook n cranny about 3 times and waxed twice and this is the final products

Lookin' good! I'm glad you left the emblem chrome. I've finally converted to the dark side too! I have a spare grille ready to be sanded down and painted too. I bought a brand new emblem and plan on clear coating it and then trying that Plastidip Glossfier to give it a brushed look too.
 
thank you andy!! it was mostly trial n error.. and honestly i wish i did put a little more time into the wet sanding the paint prior to the clearcoat... up really close u can see some imperfections in the paint and it drives me nuts...

next on the agenda are sport tails.. i messed up on paypal and "added money" to my account from my phone by accident rather then to just send it so now i gotta wait for the money to clear so i can pay this member on here... i'm such an idiot

Sporties! Such a big difference they make. It's funny, I saw a new 2012 Escalade Premium on the road yesterday and they now have FX-like sport tails and even these cool looking dual exhausts built into the bumper.
 
they really do make that much of a diff... i think on black fx the stock reddies look pretty good and almost better than the sports but on any other color, the sports do stand out alot!

s: u know what sux, i gave my car a nice wash with a quick polish on friday... it lasted 30 mins before it was loaded with pollen... i mean LOADED
 
Very nice looking mod there. Gotta say the Sport tail light is a very nice factory upgrade. About the pollen, wash her again. No I kids. 30 minutes not enough for a good photo session :smile (2):
 
Ahahahah i can't belive!!! 12th of april the tails were in italy at my home and today they are on your Fx in the Usa!!

I think that too, infact i had swap mine sports with the red for my black Fx!!
 
Yes i know... I need some time to waxing my fx an take and post some pics with the red tails and the wheel spacer...

I will do that asap!
