Osram CBI 5000K D2S HID Bulbs (The next big thing?)

In case you guys haven't seen this thread on these Osram CBI 5000K D2S bulbs:

http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?36407-New-Osram-D2S-Bulb-Xenarc-Cool-Blue-Intense

HOLY CRAP 172 Pages on one topic:eek.:. Apparently these are so popular they would be the bulbs God would use if he had a car:top:

Honestly I read through all 172 pages in the last couple of days believe it or not. I've come to a conclusion from my reading that:

!. These bulbs are indeed brighter than the stock even though their 5000K and not stock 4300K. There is absolutely no lumen loss at all.

2. Their pure white. None of that bullshit white with a tinge of yellow or white with a tinge of blue.

3. Cutoff line is more precise than stock because of the design of the base attached to the bulb. Even though stock FX projectors are already known for having one of the sharpest cutoff lines in the biz.

4. Beam pattern is also wider than stock so the light is spread out more evenly.

I think these could be the bulbs that everyone is asking for, no yellow no blue, just pure white with no lumen loss, more light output, and OEM quality since alot of manufacturers use Osram for stock HID lighting. As you know my Morimoto's took a big shit on me the other day. So guess what I ordered a pair of these. They were $250 but I entered the coupon code at checkout for the group buy on that website and paid $195. I can't wait to receive them to try them out. When I get these sometime towards then end of next week I will report back with my opinion. :top::top:

I'm curious to see how they are also because I've always thought Phillips had one of the best bulbs out there. They are expensive but you get what you pay for. Def let us know when you get them and post pics !!! My Morimotos have been great so far couldn't complain.. especially for the what ... $50 I paid for them.

$195!!! You can buy a new set of moriomotos every year for 4 years:)

My moriomotos are on 24/7 when I drive and it's been a good 2 years.

I am still satisfied with my Morimotos as well and I look forward to your review of these new bulbs. I know you are very particular with headlight colors, quality, etc. so this will be a good thread!

Oh yes definately will keep this updated for you guys :) You can count on some photos and videos too :top:

$195 for a pair isn't too bad IMO. Think about it like this, OEM bulbs cost around the same price. I like my Morimoto's I had in there, but after having a problem with them now I want to try something different. They still have their warranty on them so I could of replaced them. Only bad thing is that I contacted Matt at TheRetroFitsource and he said they would of replaced my Morimoto bulb under warranty, but unfortunately they don't carry them no more. So they want me to pay for brand new different Morimoto bulbs which defeats the purpose of a warranty :nerd (2):

i've had the philips 5000k colormatch bulbs for a while and love em.. pure white is the way to go. can't wait to see these.

I suggest anyone interested in it to read up on that thread. Lots of good info in that specific thread about the Osram CBI bulbs and just HID's in general. :top:

BTW if you skim through it you'll find some interesting photos people took of them. If it wasn't for all the good reviews I probably wouldn't of pulled the trigger on these bulbs.

look forward to pics and videos....make sure to include some comparison pics with your morimoto pics and maybe even original pics if you still have those :)

There is only one place to buy them here in the U.S because they are imported from Germany. You can buy them here:

http://www.motivemods.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=OSR-CBI-D2S&CartID=1

Use the group buy discount code: HIDPLANET

Mine haven't come yet because as you can see he's out of stock. I asked and he should have them by tomorrow or Monday. That means I should have mine next week :D

@ IAN, the price really isn't that high considering OEM bulbs cost around that same price for a pair:top:

Bulbs came today!!!

Got home from class and glad to see my bulbs finally arrive today after like 2 weeks of waiting because the seller was out of stock and was waiting on them to be shipped from Germany. Apparently his website is the ONLY place to buy these bulbs in the U.S because their only available in Germany. Here's some pictures of the packaging and bulbs:

They say cool blue because that's the name Osram gave them, but their not anywhere near blue at all. Nothing but milky white with no tinge of blue and no tinge of yellow:

Going to install these on Saturday and take some pictures and make a video:top::top::top:

I'm curious to see if there is a $150 visual difference... Without reading that other forum's 100+ pages.

Thanks for being a pioneer for the fx's.
