Leaking Power Steering Pump

My PS Pump is leaking pretty bad. I hear there are seal kits available to replace the seals. I have not been able to find one. I have found places that will rebuild it for me but that equals a lot of downtime. I have a friend that works for nissan and he says he has done a few of them and it is not too hard.

Anyone know where I could get a seal kit? Or would it be better to just get a new pump?

wow that is great!! do you have the rest of the instructions?? If so that would be even better :)

I will let everyone know what comees in on my order of the seal kit

Oh ok. I just want to replace the rings and hope it fixes my problem. It would be great to have power steering working great without leaking all over everything

I had my power steering pump leak around 85K miles. I didn't realize there was a seal kit as my mechanic suggested I just replace the pump.

Ordered a new OEM pump from dealerdirectparts.com ($340?) and put it in myself using the dealer service manual as reference since I couldn't find a DIY.

I didn't create a DIY for the install myself as I changed it on my driveway in the dead of winter (-7C and snowing). If you decide to go this route, I'll be happy to help as the manual's instructions were useless.

1) Remove pump
2) Install new pump
3) Bleed
4) Success!

With no additional information which would've been handy (like the hidden bolt underneath the pulley that needs to be removed).

How long did the swap of the p/s take? I just found out my p/s has been leaking and the dealer recommends that I get a new one w/the install at $800.00, I'd like to pass on that if I can find a cheaper route.

I couldn't. I'm in for feedback from the other guy that did. The pulley didn't have a lip and we were unable to pull it off :-(. Where is the hidden bolt under the pulley?
