Sup Guys! Ok so I had loosened the bolts holding the muffler to get a loud sound but it rattled and people recommended me to bolt that *ish* back up, lol So i did. Anyways, I still wanted a louder exhaust So i took it to a local muffler shop in modesto and had the resonator deleted and damn it sounds amazing! Not that flow master sounding stuff it has an exotic v8 sound.. VID will follow, but here are some pics. (Sorry pics were taken with iPhone 4)

Nice, I'm glad you like the new sound.... I've always wondered how well they can weld the top of the pipe if they don't remove the system (can't really see what you're doing).

Hopefully you kept that resonator. I thought you were worried about warranty? This is chopping up your exhaust vs. loosening bolts=)

Good thing you are in CA, in Chicago, that aluminized tube would rust in one Chicago winter. That weld looks so-so, check it quarterly for leaks. You just welded to a stainless steel pipe.

All in all -- great mod, this is a fast, easy way to get sound and even HP/Torque.

Thanks for showing the inside of the resonator too. I always wondered if it had chambers or straight through. Assumed straight through but wasn't sure.

PS I want that lift in my garage...

I tripled check with my dealer and confirmed that this mod will NOT affect warranty and its on paper lol. Ya I could of gone with Stainless steal but I figured no one will ever see it so no need. As far as the weld goes, well the entire job was $40.00 and he did it very clean and didn't mess anything up.

And you're welcome for the inside of the resonator. :smug:

nice.

yeah, CA, no need for stainless.

shitty. thanks for the heads up! I want it louder without having to spend an arm and a leg

I had a g35 coupe and did the same thing with the resonator as with my fx and it sounded really good, but not sure if the fx has a similar set up with the g35 coupe. Try it and it sounds like crap have it re-welded.

true. Does anyone know if it is the same set up? I thought that it was. when you did it to your G35, did it sound like something was loose or did it sound legit in your opinion?

Was it a huge diff when riding in the car? thank you for your input

You can replace the OEM resonator with a high flow one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-High-Flow-Resonator-18-Length-2-5-OD-Universal-/170617747132

the g35/350z/fx3503-08 basically have the same exhaust, the fx35 and 350z are literally the same besides the legnth of the muffler outlet pipes with the tips on them.

Just a FYI that the high flow resonator I posted, I have no experience with.

Only thing I'm concerned for you is that it will be too loud at cruising RPMs and might have a drone. But for $40 to remove, and $40 to put back on -- can't be that bad to try out.

Thank you for the link and the help!!!

If anyone with a 35 wants to hear, this is the closet I found to an FX35 since they were all 45s.
