Anyone else have a white haze appear inside their fog lights?

My 2007 FX35 has developed a white haze on the inside of both the left and right fog light housings. The haze is easily visible with the lights on or off and it is located on the inside of the lens. The vehicle has OEM bulbs installed. The haze has a distinct shape of what lines in the center circling out around the outer perimeter then back to the center. I would have posted a pic, but apparently I can't do that yet.

Anyone else have this happen? Does everyone else's have the Valeo name on them (wondering if the previous owner replaced them)?

It's definitely not water vapor, it is permanent.

Finally hit 10 posts so I edited with a photo.

The only thing that sometimes gets in my fogs is water vapor... after a machine car wash due to temeprature difference and they disappear after a day or two..
I have 05 FX35 and I think my fog light glasses says 'Nissan' on them..
Don't know about 06+...

Both sides have the same haze, same exact pattern. It never goes away, just gets slightly worse each time I drive with the lights on. I'm starting to think that maybe they're aftermarkets that aren't holding up well because when I look at pics of other FX35's it looks like their fog-lights have a shield in the center that covers the bulb (maybe keeps heat off the lens?) where as mine have no shield because I can see the entire bulb (perhaps leading to a build up of heat on the lens?).

Perhaps. I just bought a replacement foglight and it's not OEM but looks exactly like the OEM light, other than not having Nissan stamped on the lens. Yeah, that looks funky.

06 and up come with no shields over the bulb. Are you positive it's the inside of the housing? Your pic from that angle is not to clear. There is wear and tear on the glass from driving and debrie hitting it. Which causes that foggy look.

My fog light bulbs have a cover on them but that's like bklynjohn said, because it's pre '06. That haze has to be a result of some inferior design or material change from known light.

Yep, it is deffinetely inside the housing. I took the pic at an angle because straight on it's hard to even see through due to so much haze. When I look closely at it the front lens is fairly thick and the front is completely clear while the inside of the lens is developing the haze. It's much easier to distinguish inside/outside in person than in the photo. Do your 06+ lens' say Valeo or Nissan on them?

I'm gona double check.

Ok just checked. Here is a pic of my fog lens. You can see the pitting on the glass from debri hitting on it while driving.

Thanks for the pics! Yeah, mine have pitting on the outside lens like yours also, but the haze is different and on the inside of the lens. Yours say "Valeo" on them identical to mine so maybe they changed to that supplier for the OEM fogs 06+. Yours are stock, correct?

If mine are stock I may have the dealer see if they'll replace them under the basic warranty.

Maybe someone replaced the bulbs before you? Are you using aftermarket H8 bulbs or maybe they are a higher wattage in there causing the glass to haze? When I updated to the 06+ bumper, I bought a pair of replacement fogs on eBay. They are made in China, glass and say Eagle on them. So far so good since October 2010. I did put some Lamin-X film over it, best $18 you can spend for protection against the pitting too.

The previous owner could have replaced the bulbs. The color output looks OEM halogen and the bulb appears to be an H8 by looking into the lens (has the proper shielding on the tip), but the wattage could indeed be higher than 35w since I haven't pulled the bulb to check it. I may pull one foglight out this weekend and check the bulb.

My guess: previous owner has some aftermarket fog bulbs, overheated and exploded within the housing. Causing the haze of chemical reaction. I'll try to grab some photos of my 06 fogs but last I clean it, wasn't as bad as yours.

Interesting. Seems to keep getting worse though with use, if it was from an explosion it shouldn't change post bulb failure. Also haven't noticed any hint of debris inside the housing...

That looks like a mixture of condensation and debris. Was this noticeable before you put the HID in your fogs? If not perhaps the bulb seal isn't as good at weather proofing as the previous h8 backing.

I'd check if there was the same debris on the reflector as well as the inside lining of the bulb and check the weather seal on the back of your unit. Some ventilation is necessary to "vent" condensation, but the section between your bulb and unit should be sealed.
