Anyone else notice the 2nd Gen FX's have that hideous antenna that sticks up like the G37 Convertible? I hate that antenna and it's so ugly. I was wondering is there a way to convert it to a shark fin antenna? And how do you go about removing the antenna on the roof? Please someone help :smile (2):

I would think that you need to take off the roof liners probably much te same way as the 1st. Did u know you can unscrew the pointy antenna bits and just have the stub? I tried it before and the radio still works fine but I don't listen to radio much so it might affect the signal. You can plug up the hole somehow, maybe you will be ok just leaving it like that.

I like mine, that's where I stick my Canucks flag during hockey season since I have already broken 2 window flags

I'll try that out tomorrow then, thanks bro! If it comes out good I'll take some pictures.

BTW will that effect Navi signal or XM signal? I never use the regular AM/FM radio, I always use XM.

I took out the antenna because I use cover alot when park in driveway.
and I bought vacuum caps, 3 for $1.99, just cover it. looks nice.

it does affected the AM/FM radio, which I dont listen to anyway.
and no affect on XM and Navi.

a japanese member here has the shark fin. It looks really nice

If you want I can mail you a cap and the screw I placed inside to protect the threads.

research a bit more into the shark fin antennas, it seems like a very simple install that doesn't require you to remove the oem antenna base. Also manage to locate a local maker of these antenna. Going to inquire some more and possibly get it done since it so easy and is reversible.

i saw the visual garage one on nicoclub (hmmm i don't have enough post count to post a link), but it looks good, made for the larger FX and EX vehicles

I purchased one several months ago and the color match was spot-on, with no de-grade in FM reception.

where did you get it from?
I check with the website in the above post and I do not see one for our Infiniti at all or I must be blind...:smug:
I think it will make my FX35 look even better...

I email them and they told me there is a newer model mark 2 or something that will fit our fat antenna base you just have to email them and ask.

Hm, so i read up a little about it and they designed the fin to give off some reception? We have one good review from a fx'er anyone else? Is there somthing not soo pointy, maybe a lil more round?

I have the shark fin on my FX & have had no problems at all with it. I totally spaced where I ordered it from though, I'll check my emails when I get home & let you know!

HoLLyWooD007, do you have any pictures of the shark fin antenna you can share with us? I would like to see how it looks before placing an order. Thanks.
