Need help cleaning windshield

I've noticed, in certain lighting conditions, like at dusk. That I see very fine spots on my windshield. The best way I can discribe it is that I'm looking through very fine clear sand.
I've tried window cleaners but the fine clear sand is still there.
Has anyone encountered this problem or does anyone have ideas of how to get rid of the fine clear mist of grit.

if it's stuff ON the windshield then either shaving it with a razor blade or #0000 steel wool or even clay bar is great for that, it won't scratch the glass & should leave it squeeky clean... if it's higher mileage & it's really a series of accumulated tiny chips then it's nothing you can fix, the widshield would need to be replaced really to get the wipers to work like new again & get rid of all the tiny chips that after a while it looks almost like it was sand blasted...

if the roads are really bad where you are with a lot of road construction then the windshield could acumulate tiny chips much faster... I'd try a razor blade, that'll tell you if there tiny chips or not... tiny chips are also the first indication of higher milage, do you have many tiny chips at the front edge of the hood & front bumper too?

Right, I had another thought, Andrew at Big A tinyed my side windows three weeks ago I wonder if sanding the windshield would help? I should contact him and get his thoughts on this. By the way Andrew does great work and it only took 20 min. to tint both windows.

In answer to the question concerning chips on the front bumper, the car is Black and spotless inside and out. Carfax gave it a +10 rating, actually thats why I picked this FX over the others the dealer had on his lot.

I clear small tree sap droplets from mine with an old credit card while washing it. Works on paint too as long as you keep it soaped up while doing any painted surface

Don't sand your windshield. The spots may be imperfections in the glass. The previous owner may have did a lot of highway driving. Car Fax is not gospel and paint is easier to repair than glass, so you really cannot judge by the condition of the bumper.

i just saw this & i hope im not too late. DONT SAND YOUR WINDSHIELD WITH ANY KIND OF WETSANDING PAPER. THOSE SAND PAPERS ARE DESIGNED TO CUT CLEAR COAT NOT GLASS! IF YOU PUT SAND PAPER ON YOUR GLASS YOU WILL NEVER REMOVE THOSE SCRATCHES!!

Cleaning windshield

First clay bar your windshield to remove any residue such as sap etc. Second , clean with 'invisible glass' using micro fiber cloth. Third , now wipe with terry cloth to remove any cloudiness. This works for me . Hope it works for you................ps you can substitute clay bar for an 'sos' pad .

A note to all FX owners! Today while cleaning my windshield I put my wipers in the up and out position to clean the bottom area of the windshield. While wiping the area I accidently bumped the driver side wiper which caused it to slam back down onto the windshield. The wiper flipped back down onto thevwindshiel with enough force to crack the entire bottom area of the windshield from the driver corner to the pass. corner. Be careful if you do put the wipers into this position it can crack the windshield if it flips back down by itself. The windshield can only be ordered through Infiniti. The total cost of replacing will cost me $985.00 labor incuded.

Safelite carries aftermarket windshields for our fx, at 1/3 of dealer pricing FWIW...

They do along with other companies as well but its nothing like Oem. I had an Aftermarket one installed in mine, they messed it up and I had them put a new Oem one in. The rubber gasket was different along with the entire windshield. It fit alright but the angle was completely different and had a bubble/lump slope instead of a steady line. In the end you get what you pay for and a windshield to me is one thing you should never cut costs on.
