2009 Infiniti FX35 Transmission is Strange...

My tranny has been working great, thank goodness.

I did get the re-flash last year, but really, even before that I had no real complaints.
 
I'm gonna watch mine today and see if I see this.

My trans feels like it is in too high a gear at low speeds, that's true. But it isn't all the time, just like he is saying.

Interesting. My car came with the flash done.
 
something else to add to my list of "why i dont like the new FXes"..

well hope you guys get this fix if it happened to your FX..
 
It does it on mine. Yours seems normal.

Have you done the PCM ref lash yet? I feel the throttle tip in has been detuned. The car takes more throttle angle to get going then before the reflash.
 
Ok. Found a way to duplicate the low rpm issue.

Slowly accelerate to 40. Get off the gas all the way and let the car decelerate to 30-35 by itself. Step on the gas and try to maintain speed. Now slowly accelerate to 40+.
 
I get the same thing, and I usually have to paddle shift it down when anticipating a pass, instead of stepping on it to downshift.

you can see the difference in RPMs at 5:00 on the first video compared to :55 on the second video, both at the same 40mph mark.

I also had the transmission reflash. Weird.
 
i have 2009 fx50s, gets into 6th gear as soon as i hit 35~40mph... i hit the gas, rpm moves up a tiny bit and goes back to where it was... i hit it hard and the car downshifts to 4th gear and u feel a sudden surge of power... kinda annoying when ur driving in city...
 
My 09 FX35 doesn't have this problem. And I've never had that tranny reflash either. Mine is buttery smooth and shifts when it's suppose to without any harsh downshift's. Mine was built last year in March of 09.
 
so you never experienced being on 6th gear when you are about at 35~40mph? not from a 0-40mph acceleration... lets say you get to 45mph... slow down to 40mph... try to hit the gas, see what kind of reaction it gives u

Had mine reflashed a few weeks ago and still does it. Mainly the same as this. Thinking of going to another dealer. The one I bought the FX from is fairly new and I don't think they have a clue whats going on there. Only plus thing they did is program my tpms on my 21's and washed it.
 
The only weird thing I noticed on mine is if you accelerate fast and take your foot of the pedal it will suddenly drop a gear down as if it was pulling back. Is that normal on a an '10 FX35 ? Would the dealer have to reprogram anything ?

Since yours is a 2010, that means you already have the latest transmission software. So your good. Sometimes it's the transmission learning your driving style because it learns how you drive and adapts to your driving style.
 
Also ... (and I posted this comment on a different thread yesterday) ... how can any FX35 owner of a 2010 or 2011 model manage the 7sp tranny without paddle shifters? And how could Infiniti drop the paddles from the FX35? I don't get it. I would be pissed if my FX35 didn't have them. Very glad I have an 09 FX35 model that came with the shifters.
