z tube

I have the Ztube (lms verison) and the flat k&n filter. I dont notice a huge factory in MPG but sure gets a bit more peep. , i think. only way to tell is get it installed into your fx and start testing. on a side note, what really helped was the Motordyne 5/16 plenum spacer.

Just installed my stillen z tube.

Probably stuff everyone already knows but I'm a noob with mechanics and everyone likes pictures, right... Gotta learn somewhere.

Remove factory pipe and breather tube:

Install breather tube (now on the bottom, which I was worried wouldn't fit since the tube is longer to fit on the top, but it works just fine) and the pipe:

I was also concerned that I didn't get the pipe at the correct angle to the couplers. The engine cover touches the coupler now. I don't know if it did before or not. Is it a problem?

Really not a problem, but you can still fix that.

Either rotate the entire z-tube clockwise, till it does not touch the engine cover, OR

Remove the engine cover!!! It does nothing besides provide some aesthetics (looks) and I have been without my cover for almost two years now.

If you are into looks, then paint the plenum and consider a Rare JDM Harness cover.

thats a nice DIY . i cant wait to order mine .. i need to find someone with a credit card i got the cash . lol

where you purchase your z tube from ?

I think UTR may still have some aluminum/chrome ones. I picked one up from them just a few months ago. I believe it was ~$60 for a chrome one.

UTR gave me issues. The vacuum hose connector was held on by rubber, which disintegrated. Also, fitment was not exactly perfect. I bought it from Ege, though, and it may have not been FX specific.

I think I'll take a bus to Beshoff and pick up a z-tube from them to save the shipping fee. $55 seems pretty good to me.

yea its supposed to make a lil difference. i dont think itll make a difference on a dyno though , but for like 60 bucks you cant go wrong

Dyno-wise, it doesn't make a difference. Tony from Motordyne told me this. I guess 3-4 HP can just be dyno chatter, so it may not be actual gains for sure. The principle behind it is good though, so it can't hurt.

i saw a pic withthe lms z tube .......where can i get it?I dont mind getting the stillin z tube but the lms looks cool...im also going to get the stillen air breather not planning on keeping the stock one.Im not looking to get more performance or anything just want it to have a better meaner sound.
