Found some 24's but....

Looking at putting 24's on my FX50. The wheel I've found is only available in a 24x10. I can get it in a +42mm offset. It will stick out aprx 3/4 of an inch further than stock but almost 1.25" to the inside of the wheel well. Has anyone trimmed or modded the plastic on the 2nd gens yet? I expect it will likely rub under full lock in reverse. (maybe I'm wrong) If anyone has any input I'd gladly listen. I'll be running 285/35/24's.

Thanks.

If the stock fx50 wheels are 21x8 with +50mm offset, the new wheels would stick out 1.29" further than stock and protrude .7" further into the wheel well. I'm suspecting I may have to have my fenders rolled. What do you guys think? I just don't want the wheel and tire sticking way out.

The calculator I used is at 1010tires, but the forum wouldn't allow me to paste the link to my message. Not enough posts.

You'd probably need someone to confirm this, but here's my take ... I have a 2nd gen, 20x10 +45 and they sit perfectly flush on 295's. I think you'd be OK from a width stand point, should sit very nice and not extend too far out. As for the height, not sure on that part, that's what you'd probably need confirmed. I thought there was someone selling 24's they had on their 2nd gen, I'd do a search and compare specs. Good luck though, post pics if you get them on!

Thanks! I have seen the other 2nd Gen on 24's. He is running Giovanna Dalars, but I'm not sure what his wheel width and offset was. I'll try to get in touch with him. I was planning on running 285/35/24's. They will be 1.4" taller than stock rubber, so .7" closer to the wheel well.

i have 24s on my fx 24x9.5 et38 with 295/35/24. I have NO rubbing unless I really jam on the brake hard and turn sharp (found out while turning into the driveway too fast) but i wouldnt push it any further than that because my clearance all around, with that size tire, is the limit. If you go smaller tire, like a 275/30 then you may be OK but I would still worry about your high offset and 10" rim width clearing the inner front.

if you NEED to go 24x10, then I would keep the offset between 35 & 40, but you will DEFINITELY need to go smaller on the tire because the edges of the tire will rub your inner fenders when you turn, guaranteed. btw, im selling my wheels. email me at jzely1@aol.com if you're interested or even to contact me about your wheel fitment issues/questions.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
When I run the offset calculator, it says that my 24x10 with an offset of +42, will stick out 2mm more than yours (Johnny) and have 10mm less clearance at the inner fender. Your 295/35's are .55" wider than my 285's. Damn...I'm nervous. Its going to be tight. I could run a 285/30, (to get my height back to almost stock, but I liked the idea of a bit more sidewall.

I'm really set on the wheel, but you guys probably won't like them...Dvinci Gusto's. THey used to make it in a 24x9 but don't anymore.

I also like the Lexanni LSS 10. They're a bit spendy though.

Looks good Sydney!

They found some 24x9 blanks and are drilling them to 5 on 4.5. Offset is +35. Decided to run a 285 30 24. NO rubbing, no issues. Should have them by mid March.

Each to their own...Bigger wheels are a growing trend. I could really care less about trends though...I like how they look.

22's would look ok, but the upgrade hardly seems worth it for 1" more wheel diameter.

I had several people comment that 22's didn't belong on a 1 ton diesel a year ago also. They ate their words when they saw them on the truck. They look great. (37's on 22's)

I know some gang bangers driving lowered FX's also...lol

I'd just like to chime in and offer to buy your 21's once you get off your car. Let me know if you'd be interested in selling them. I am in NYC and would pay shipping if you did decide to sell them.

I think the new fx looks beefier & larger overall than the previous gen, I think 24's on a new fx will look as good as 22's look on the first gen personally, if I had a new body fx I think i'd go 24's too really, but then you gotta drop it hard or it'll look all jacked up I think... the new fx is harder to drop hard because of the dual control arm setup in the front vs the mcpherson strut setup of the first gen which is much easier to drop a lot & not kill suspension & steering geometry...

I'm going to keep my 21's for a winter rim. Bridgestone makes the Blizzac in a 21" version. (same size as factory). But thanks for the offer.

I just hope I picked the right wheel. I like it, but I don't know that it suits the FX...An Lexani LSS 10 would look classier than what I chose. But what i chose are far more unique (ugly in some peoples eyes maybe) BUt what the hell. I think they'll look good.

I'll see how it sits but it will prob need to be lowered. The HR springs were claiming 1.2 drop in the front and 1" in the rear, but apparently aren't shipping yet.

I've never lowered a vehicle before...Always lifts.

which style finish?

I wouldn't say ugly, it is a bit busy though, somehow I think an emblem on each spoke might drive me nuts  def bling bling wheels. would probably fit the new fx better than the first gen visually I think, the new fx is a much more busy design too, with the fender vents & the dramatic headlights & nose, they should look like a good match in style I would think so they should look good, the new fx can pull off a more bling wheel I think. what color is your fx?

Thanks for posting the pics. Mines black on black.

I like the option of running full chrome, but I was planning on the black inserts, not the big one. There's actually a first Gen on cardomain running these in a 26". I think thats excessive, but they looked ok. I think I agree about the emblem on every spoke. we'll see.

Funny...the guy I deal with at the wholesaler said the same thing. He suggested I needed to look for a busy design to draw attention away for the higher roof line. Originally i was thinking something like a Gianna Blitz, or the Envy. I think I'll like these, but damn. Its an expensive venture. About 35% more cost to run 24's than 22's. But I think the 24's will look "at home" on the 2nd gen also.

The rim comes as the top version. I ordered the black inserts from the middle picture to go with it. They're removeable. I'll prob run the middle version.
