Hey guys,

Until I decide what rims / sizes to get... i'm thinking for the time being to just powdercoast my stock 20's. My car is Sheer platinum. And I was wondering what would look best.

Black gloss
Black flat
Gunmetal

Any other options i'm leaving out? Please fill me in on how you went about powdercoating yours too. I have no idea what kind of shop would do the work.

Lots of people had theirs powder coated in black... I like the color of the GT-R rims. Gunmetal-ish looking. I would paint mine that color.

Mine are a semi gloss black and i think the color is perfect not too glossy to were it overpowers the cars paint but not too flat as to make all the other clack look flat. Mine were sandblasted and then powder coated. It cost me $90 a wheel, which i thought was a very fair price. Though with a silver car i think gunmetal might look best. Like NOPWRX said look at some silver GT_R's that have the gunmetal wheels to get and idea of what the contrasts would look like. Good Luck!

There are many many threads on this exact topic which will give you answers to your questions.

Thanks for the help. But the link didn't work for me. It displayed...

"Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms"

And I did search powder coating topics... There was nothing quite like a poll of what the members thought was the best color to choose for a silver 45 with stock 20's.

Sorry to bother everyone with a redundant question.

I like ;)

Semi-gloss black for sure. I'm not sure where in CT you are,if you're near Rhode Island there's Ocean State Hot Coat,,but they want $120. per wheel,,and that sounds pricy. Good luck.

I'm running semi-gloss black on a Diamond Graphite FX

Pic please. I really dont like the color of my wheels.... They look goo on overcast days but when its sunny,...YUCK!! I want a GT-R color, or gunmetal type loof. Maybe matte black. Just want to see an example with a fx thats the same color as mine.

For those of you who have powder coated your rims, any tips on the best way to get the wheel caps to match? I'm also concerned about chipping or scuffing when removing the caps from the wheel itself. Help will be rewarded with cookies

The more satin finish you do the rims in the easier it will be to match the center caps. When you do a glossy black it gets quite hard for the center caps to match. i believe JBaker had this issue

I vote gunmetal, actually what I am considering for mine as well BUT IMO the gunmetal color choice is critical. I've seen a variety of gunmetals come out a bit too blue or green. The sheer platinum and MOST of the Infiniti's are a warm silver base if the wheels don't match up well they look a bit off.....I'd take a sample or a wheel in.
