New Member and Headlamp Question...

Hi everyone...

New member and a quick shoutout to trainerKEN for referring me to this place.

Anyhow, still trying to figure out all the quirks and features of the FX50S which my wife and I picked up just over a week ago. Well, I have a question (maybe I missed it in the manual too): the headlamps are supposed to turn with the steering wheel, correct? And if so, is it true that the passenger side will turn regardless of the speed but the driver's side will only turn at certain speeds...?

Thanks in advance!

Hey glad to see you finally got on here. It's John from acurazine. I posted your thread about advice on getting the FX50s.

I'm not sure about the headlight movement either but welcome and enjoy the ride! I know there are 2 other Canadian members with FX50s, hopefully they can help out.

The Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS) will automatically adjust the headlights
(low beam) toward the turning direction to improve the driver’s view. When the head- light switch is ON and the driver operates the steering wheel in a turn, the AFS system will be activated.

The AFS will operate:

. when the headlight switch is ON.
. when the selector lever is in any position other than P (Park) or R (Reverse).
. when the vehicle is driven at above 16 MPH (25 km/h) for the left-side head-light.

Note that the right-side low beam headlight will swivel but the left side will not swivel when the vehicle is at a stop and the steering wheel is turned. The vehicle must attain a speed above 16 MPH (25 km/h) before AFS activates the left-side headlight.

Son of a...yes, memo to me: RTFM.

Thanks!

a belated welcom from me to you from a fellow alberten. I love my fx50S. just got my winters on and a car starter/alarm installed. got the text to start option too. it is sweet.

Haha Yumcha, don't feel too bad, I had the same question on my mind and didn't read the manual either :)

Btw, I just picked up my fully loaded FX50S two weeks ago... so we probably took delivery about the same time! I LOVE this car. I have a G37 as well (currently for sale but about sold) and I have to say I really enjoy driving the FX50 a lot more. It handles great, is comfortable (Infiniti is the king of interiors imo) and has loads of power. I also think they did a really great job with things like the adaptive headlights and the other "tech" features.

Anyway welcome to the club!

Shumby, how are you liking the text to start option? I think I remember reading in another post you do have a few issues with it (or that might have been someone else). If you discuss this in another thread I'll see about finding it and moving the discussion there. I'm really interested in having this installed but don't want to affect any of the cars existing functionality.
