At 18 I got my first job in the body shop as an apprentice to the head painter.
I would take the car after body filler was completed & sanded smooth.
Taping, mixing, spraying & sanding the primer coats, tape it up again & get the car ready for paint.
After getting the car back I wetsanded the clear coat, compounded & polished the outside of the car.
3 years later in the summer of 2000, I decided to leave the body shop & venture out on my own.
With $2,000 I started my own mobile detailing business. I still remember the first car I detailed, my neighbor's 1997 Pontiac Bonneville that I finished under the street lights at 9:30pm. I used the money from her car to purchase my first buffer, the Dewalt 849 Variable Speed Polisher.
In 2001 I set up a tent in the backyard of a mechanic shop.
I bounced around a bit until I found my current home @ 17-16 154th st Whitestone, NY (Queens)
I have 12 years of experience & knowledge working with automotive paint & various other skills in the industry.
Big "A" Detailing has fast become one of the premier shops in the tri-state area.
Our customer base covers all 5 boroughs of NY, Nassau & Suffolk counties, North & Central New Jersey.
We do anything from a simple 3 bucket hand car wash to paint correction & full car wetsand restoration.

Sunday, Monday & Tueseday Big "A" Detailing is available to come to your house to detail a couple of cars. You must be able to provide a garage with decent lighting. I do have portable lights if necessary that I can supply. Appointments have to be made 2 weeks in advance.

I would like to let everyone know about the short term goals of
BIG "A" DETAILING & what might change to better suit our customers in 2010.
With the new addition of Verizon Fios in the shop, I will be able to post more material & faster! Look for more writeup threads each week.
We will continue to expand our product line with different waxes, sealants & other things. If you have a favorite product that you would like us to use, just let me know & I'll make sure to keep stock of it in the shop.
In a few weeks we will be better insulating the shop to make it warmer while your here during the cold winter months. The all new customer lounge will be upgraded just a little more with the addition of a plexi glass wall & some surround sound speakers. Free Hot Chocolate will always be available for everyone, just ask for a cup & your wish will be granted.
Special packages for the winter season will be made up shortly as well.
As far as pricing for 2010, I have no plans to increase my prices.
The only thing that has changed is the addition of paint correction. Our paint correction prices will still be reasonable without compromising the final quality of the work.
In short, paint correction is the next step above your average polish or compound & polish job. Some customers just want a nice shine to their car while others would like a little more attention to removing paint defects such as fine scratches, swirls & acid raid stains.
The paint is looked at under special lighting with the ultimate goal of a perfect finish & the deepest, wettest reflection. All paint correction jobs are finished off with a coat of sealant & topped off with a coat of wax, both applied by hand. All glass, head & tail lights, wheels & exhaust tip are polished & sealed as well.
Paint correction jobs can take anywhere from 10.00 hours to 25.00 hours.
All cars are different, each requiring different amounts of time based on paint condition & color.
There will be 3 levels of pricing for paint correction : $250, $350, $450
More seasonal photo shoots with Ryan Lee will be done as well.
Winter is reserved for Subaru
Spring is reserved for Infiniti G35 & 37
Summer is reserved for Honda S2000
We will continue to participate in more events, giving away more free shop services while increasing the total amount of forums we sponsor as well.
Look for more detail days & nights at Mobile-Addictions as well!
