I just bought the Magellan 1700 yesterday...and it came today. Going to figure out how to mount it this weekend.

if you planning to mount it in the stock screen location you have to relocate your screen

several have done it but it is quite custom

2020 i know you have one for sale but were did you get the plastic framing from or did you have it made?

your options:

1. clock location - fairly easy, no extending wires needed (i don't like outcome, looks out of place)
2. cup holder - medium, have to extend wire and do some custom mounting (looks better than #1 but hard to check the screen while driving)
3. overhead - hard, have to extend wires, and make custom console (best option IMO, looks 100% OEM if done right)

I know i see but as far as modifying the upper part looks to be a pain. As far as putting that navi in i can handle that but the custom part to put the relocated oem screen looks to be trouble for me.

framing was done from aluminum, and then cover with plastic.

Would be nice if i can get one made

I saw the custom sunglasses holder already made at the 'For Sale' section. Was pretty expensive. You should check it out.

I've been thinking about this too. Now that the upper plastic is available, the look is there. What I'm not sold on yet is the naviagation unit. I want music control too - on screen menus integrated with the CD player & radio. Is this too much to ask?

The closest thing I have seen is Turbocad's computer that can do it all. But that's a much bigger custom job than just swapping out the OEM screen.

Are there any units out there than can do both GPS and music, plus fit in our OEM dash location?

I will when i get home ill pm you it is where the clock use to be. I recommend getting a double din in place of the oem screen that do it all but ill pm u some pics when i go on lunch
