Red LEDS in the tail side markers

I was thinking of changing out the regular bulbs in the side marker section of the tails for some red LED's in there. Has anyone done this and if so was there any improvement in light output?
 
As a follow up, i decided on the 25 LED SMT tower III:

They are quite tall so the fit is a little snug but it worked. Definitely a difference over the regular bulbs. I'll be shooting to do the fronts next.

if i put those in my rear taillights would it help my black out taillight situation?, currently they are way too black for night and you can hardly see them when they are on

it might. I'm not sure how dark your tails are or how they currently look when illuminated but these may be a bit more noticable.
 
they are really blacked out, during the day time you cant really see my lights and at night they are visible at certain angles, i had one next to me at the lights and i rolled down my windows and he said '' hey hows it goin, you might want to turn on your tailights , there off'' i said oh no problem lol but if this is a solution to the problem i will order these

How about instructions on how to take off the tail light assy. I tried today and had to stop and start searching here without success. Has anyone have a How to on the tail lights? Sorry if this sounds too simple and easy.
