oil consumption

What up. So today i changed the oil and not even one quart came out, i dunno how the engine didnt seize up. I had an oil consumption test at 65k and it passed, said it was only 1/2gt low, But I feel like they missed something, now i have 78k on it and its no longer covered under powertrain, do you think they would make an exception since its the same problem?

I checked the engine for a good hour and didnt see any leaks, so its gotta be burning it. Im waiting for a call back from the dealer. But does anybody have any other suggestions?

There is no way you would burn that much oil and not notice it. You would have a huge cloud of blue smoke behind you whenever you drove.

1. check your antifreeze for oil

2. recheck for leaks

really the antifreeze? aight ill check it

its only been 4100 since last oil change and noticed it was low then too, but i just shrugged it off because of what the dealer said.... the only reason i wanted to look at it was because i noticed the oil light flashing the other morning. im using mobile 1 full synthetic.

i agree would think 6 quarts missing would be easy to spot, either exhaust or dripping..but everything seems normal otherwise

thanks for the imput

VK45DE engines are known to burn oil. Check and top off your engine oil every 2,000 miles. I always keep engine oil in my trunk as I usually have to use 1/2 - 1 quart between oil changes. Infiniti Techs I've talked to have seen a few engine replacements due to this.

My volvo burned oil too. It was a turbo motor though. I remember almost every time I would turn or accelerate the oil light would come on. I never cared, that car was like a tank.

its very strange and i dont wanna pay for something they missed in the 1st place...i could see .5 - 1 qt low i wouldnt worry but 6 qts thats not good, like i said really surprised that thing didnt sieze up

It make sense for you to take it back for a problem you addressed whole the car was under warranty and they didn't fix it. Just make a huge deal out of it if they don't want to help you out.

my 35 burns oil too, not enough to blow any noticable smoke though, but by the time I get a little over 3.5k miles after an oil change, on a hard deceleration I will see the olil light flicker a bit, then go off. after a hard stop the oil light comes on for a few seconds & then goes back off, that's when I know the motors really low on oil... a few times even after seeing the light I would forget to add oil, then maybe notice the flickering light again a week later or something, so throw some oil in then  at that point it has to be over 3 1/2 qts low... this has caused a really nasty lifter tap in my motor & it rattles & taps like an old sewing machine... the reason why I'm so careless with it though in the first place is I have a new motor sitting on the side ready to be installed. I've almost been trying to blow the motor but it just keeps on going, rattling & tapping away

Question.. Does the FX really burn that much oil or it might just be a serious case of oil leak in the spark plugs, like the one my have?? I mean there was alot of oil there just imagine if it was more than one spark plug..

My 45 burned oil too and I got an oil change every 4000/5000 miles by the dealer. I would check my oil all the time to make sure because it was bone dry once after I heard the cylinders tickin and automatically knew what it was.

i do 10k OCI on my 45 and have found it at a max of 1 qt low. after 4500 on M1 TDT in it, the oil level was still at the fill level...

have you done any oil analysis for your 10k OCI? Did you tried amsoil? I'm currently running amsoil SSO 0w30. Im planning to run it for 1 year or 12K and do an oil analyssis after that.
