Painted calipers? Need opinions.

Hi, need some advice. I debating whether to paint my calipers or not.
Looking at red, yellow, black or leaving it stock. I saw a silver Cayenne with yellow calipers today and wasn't too excited so that may be my least favorite choice.

Opinions please...

I'm also debating whether to do H&Rs, exhaust, headlights and blackout roof (not sure if it'll look good with black though). The K&N filters and wheels just aren't taking care of the bug anymore.

BTW: I'm in So.Cal so lowered height and/or stiffer ride is not a concern for me.

Posting to get to 10 so I can add pics. Hold on.

So you are going to black out an already black roof?
Otherwise, the H&R's and exhaust sounds good. Painting calipers, I would do black, but I don't like to be showy.

I would paint them black, and definitely lower it. Those are 20s right?

Yes, they are 20s. I was afraid 22s would make the car look small so I went with 20s.

Seems like the consensus is Gloss Black.

Thanks to all who have replied.

i think a black roof would be okay.... what would you do when you get to the liftgate? have like a distinct line orrrr do JUST the roof

Hmm... not sure, I think I'll hold off until I see another FX or at least a X6 or Cayenne with blacked out roof to decide. Shouldn't be too long in Southern California.

I wouldn't paint the calipers until they start showing corrosion or dirt that won't clean off. But when that happend then I would paint them black and paint the rotor hats black to completely subdue the brakes. There is no need to paint stock sliding calipers a bright color to show them off. There's nothing to show off.

that's why he should paint them BLACK. it looks nice but its not showing anything off....i did the same to my rotors and calipers and it looks great

Not trying to show off but at the same time my stock calipers aren't ones where I feel they need to be hidden either. They stop my car from 60-0 in 127 feet whereas the FX50S with it's bigger brakes does it in 126 feet (per Motor Trend).

Unless you're going for a theme, don't do a bright color. I was doing a black/red theme but didn't get the Time Attacks like I planned and ended up having the calipers being the only things red on the car :embarrassed:

I think it would've ended up looking nice if I got the Time Attacks, paint the outer edge of the blacked out grill red, and maybe went back to the original red tails. Ended up not doing any of those except the rotors and like I said it sticks out in a bad way

Did you ever fix it?

I went with what the consensus said... Black.

Unfortunately it doesn't really show in the picture.

Thanks to everyone.

Did you ever fix it?
No. My brother has the FX now. If he installs stainless steel braided hose brake lines I'll tell him to take the calipers apart and I'll cover sand blasting/media blasting and paint them black or silver or whichever he prefers.

Oh and looks good. Glad you went with black.
