Rear Passenger Side Suspension Creaking

I have recently noticed that my rear passenger area creaks when I drive through uneven road at slow speed. I can hear the noise from both outside and inside. I have checked and it seems like the noises are coming from the spring or suspension area.

I have just replaced my spring and suspension to brand new H&R and KYB with all rubber / plastic items replaced three months ago. I haven't replaced the suspension mount seal and noticed one seal was broken during installation.

All my bracings were installed about 4 months ago.

I would appreciate if anyone had similar issues can share their experiences. :.smile:

yeah i have the same thing and nothing was actually wrong with it, i had infiniti and 2 shops whose owners i know check it....just...makes a noise haha

Did you replace the broken mount seal? I do not have a creak noise on my fx suspension. I do not think it is normal. I would have it check out.

Hey, go check your E-brake cable,, I have the same problem before, asked the question here...
someone told me the noise is from e-brake cable. go adjusted the cable it might disappear.

in my case, I did the adjustment on the e-brake.. the noise went away few days but come back now..

some one said he had that noise since day one he bought the new FX..

this might named Manufacture defect..

Thanks Dr. I will definitely have my buddy checked it out. Man, it just annoys me when I heard weird noises from the FX.

I hate noises as well from my FX .... when I had my wife in my work truck, she was like "this thing make more noise than the FX and it doesnt bother you .... I said, cause its a work truck"

If you have bracing and if the suspension has been pulled apart.

What you may be hearing is the bushings binding. It is very important for the bushing points to be torqued down in the natural position. If possible and if this was not how it was all put back together, get it on a lift. Have the nuts bolts at the subframe where the braces are installed loosened up and tighten back together on the lift in the natural position.

Thanks Rookie. I will have the bushing binding point checked up. :.smile: But I only experience the creaking recently few months after the bracings are installed, does the bolts move after long time of driving?

I had the same noises so I'm pretty sure that may be the case for you if the rear suspension has been taken apart prior to this noise starting.

Also make sure your sub frame bushing has not ruptured like these pics. Black fluid is from the diff hanger bushing.

I have the same problem.. It's not the E-brake.. The ebrake is more of a clucking sound when you hit a small bump or a pothole.

The sound is exactly as whitehair discribed it.. It's a annoying sound when you drive at slow speed coming from the rear passenger seat/ cargo area.. The sound is like when you rub two piece of wet rubber together.. That's the only comparison I can think of right now.. I will do all the troubleshooting you guys mentioned above and see if it goes away..

Thank you all..

Hey rookie, when I re-torque the nut & bolts for the rear bracing, do I have the car on the lift lifting car body frame leaving the wheel in the air or the lift lifting the car from the wheel? Since the bolt should be re-torque in the nature point, so I assume there will be a difference if my car is lift from the wheel or the body frame. Sorry for that dumb question.

I noticed this when driving down my alley, which has been patched multiple times, so it's bumpy. When Rookie is saying to re-torque the rear bracing bolts, does that mean it should be done with the wheels off the ground? I'm pretty sure I installed mine with the wheels on the ground.

Update: I have finally got time to replace the seal, rubber bushing, basically all rubber and small parts on that rear suspension. Then problem solved. Those are not that expensive. About $50 bucks in total. Rookie is right is the bushing problems, but my suspension bushing went bad, so I have it replaced.
