removing road tar with Dri Wash

Thought I would share my findings.. I was detailing my FX this past weekend & found alot of road tar splattered. I tried some "Maguires" bug & tar remover, has worked in the past but didn't work this time, tried alcohal (spelling??) didn't work.. I grabed my old bottle of "Dri Wash" & it took the tar right off with just a little elbow grease. Kinda pricey but woth it. I would put a link in to product but not sure if thats allowable. Its easy to find on the internet

never claimed to be smart, but I can spell methanol, still have a half a drum sitting in the garage from when I used to have a drag car... I really need to dispose of it tho.

I suggest to use "Brake Cleaner" on a towel and apply it to the paint, after the cleaning wax it again. I do it myself and it's like magic.

heh, i use gasoline for tar and sap and it wipes away like nothing. Also works on the gewy stuff that stickers leave behind.
Just make sure you wipe it dry

I'm surprised the Dri Wash took tar off but I remember it being a pretty good product. I used to use it on my Honda CRX in the early 90's. I never trusted it for any heavy dirt but for dust and light grime it worked great. Left my paint super slick. If anyone wants to check them out:

Turtle wax rubbing compound takes road tar off very easily. Just a little bit on a small towel. Always take it with me when i wash the fx.

I used to detail and always used Paint Thinner. Contrary to what one might think... it does not remove paint, but works great to remove road grime.

Use this for all stubborn tar, bug, tree sap spots.......it works like a charm! You spray directly onto the spot, wait 1 minute and the tar starts to run exactly as picture in the website. Wipe off, and you're done!

WD-40 works best. Gasoline, brake cleaner, carb cleaner will all harm the paint.

Try WD40. It just melts the tar off!
