Oil Change

Hey guys, I'm new to all of this but I can change my own oil right? I don't have to get it done at the dealership do I? And if I don't have to go get it done there what oil do you really recommend? Thanks alot, I really appreciate it.

Welcome to all things FX.
5w30--Mobil 1, Castrol Syntec, Royal Purple and a good oil filter like the K&N or Mobil 1 filter.

if you are still running regular oil, 5-30w ....

synthetic oil is better and should still be 5-30w

you can also do a search for "oil change" on the top search area

how do u reset the oil change distance, i didnt go to a dealership for my oil change so when i press the maint switch on the dash it says went 12000 KM over lol.

there should be a reset button on that page, you can also change the miles driven before alert

I did my first oil change and I'm almost ready for the next one.. Oil if choice was and will be royal purple 5w 30 and K&N oil filter.. It's really simple so you should be able to do it your self. I have done it on my fx and my friend FX45..

Good luck.. Remember to let your vehicle cool off. And alway wear the right proctetive equipment..

thanks rubare I've only heard good things about Royal Purple but someone just told me that it's garbage and to go with Castrol because it's cheaper and does the same thing. I wouldn't mind coughing up the extra change for RP though...

Cool.. It's your choice bro.. People have different opinions. I like RP I like the way the engine feels and sound after every oil change.. Just try it compare it and then you decide man..

If you want to compare prices, I get Mobil 1 at Wal-mart in the 5 quart jug for $22 before taxes.

I've heard that Catrol bites. Go with RP or Amsoil. RP is not garbage
