Stillen Charger: Injectors, coils, and Spark Plugs

The kit comes with a 7th injector that comes on with boost. 1 step colder iridiums are recommended. Stock coils are fine.

Who is doing the install?

The Kit's on its way down from Canada. I bought it from an ebayer over the weekend. I know it has a heat exchanger (rad) as part of what he is sending, but I don't know what else. I was under the impression that only Stage 4 comes with Injector .

Any particular brand for the Sparks? here is what I found in another thread.

Just installed these in my fx45 a couple weeks ago i have gained 1 mgp in the city. averaging 15mpg with a pretty heavy foot. im up to 22mpg on highway going 70mph. both of these results were based on one full tank aproximately 20 gallons at fill up per test. as not to mix resullts. I bought my set of 8 off of ebay.

Can any one tell me how to post pics. Ive done a driller rotor install and would like to show results. Thanks.

Pulse plugs are a radical departure from spark plugs. Pulse plugs incorporate a pulse circuit, which stores incoming electrical energy from the ignition system and releases the stored energy in a powerful pulse of power. Instead of 50 watts of peak power typical of all spark plugs, pulse plugs deliver up to 10 times more peak power. It takes electrical power to light fuel. The more power (watts) the better.

Pulsed Power Technology is the science of storing power for a relatively long period of time and then discharging the stored power in an instantaneous pulse of energy. Installing Pulsed Power Technology in a performance auto part increases horsepower while at the same time increasing gas mileage! That's right - you no longer have to give up gas mileage to increase the power and productivity of your car or truck!

A simple way to think about the Pulsed Power Technology behind pulse plugs is that it is similar to a camera flash, whereas spark plug technology is more like a flashlight. A camera flash is exponentially brighter than a flashlight even though they both may use the same battery.

Ignition velocity refers to the growth of the combustion flame front, the speed of which determines the amount of energy released from the fuel. The greater the amount of ignition energy the larger the spark. The larger the spark the more efficiently your engine can operate to produce horsepower or, inversely, better fuel economy.

Dave @ Modified Magazine did a review on these on G35Driver.com on a 350z with only 1,200 miles...surely not enough to clog up the oem spark plugs. these pulstar plugs picked up gains throughout the whole rpm range...over 5 pulls they averaged a gain of 10whp, with 11whp being the highest.

others have done independent dynos and see gains from 3-10whp

they are doing further testing on different motors to see if the effects are the same.

Let me know what you think so I go buy it.

As far as install, I'm going to attempt to make it into a Weekend DIY but I need help with getting it tuned at a local shop. Any ideas or suggestions?

I’ll buy food and BOOZ if you want to make it a :iS: gathering…

Denso or NGK Iridiums

The standard stage 2 kit comes with the 7th injector. Stage 3 changes the drive pulley, stage 4 changes the drive pulley, the fuel pump, the 7th injector and the fuel/timing controller.

Did not know that. Just to be clear, it just includes the 7th (just one) or does it come with 7 injectors. Is it to my benefit to replace all of them?

The kit adds a 7th injector. To even have a chance at CARB approval you can not touch the injectors of the factory fuel system. The Stillen adds a 7th injector, the Vortechs add an inline pump that comes on this boost.

You could change out the oem injectors, I can't remember if the stage 2 came with a 190 Walbro or not.

I need to plan for all this so see my questions above. Who, how, when... HELPPPPP.... please:frown:

New Info...

Although the Stillen SC has not Arrived from Canada yet, I've done some home work.

1. I talked to Stillen, and they want $1K to install the SC. Once I told them it's used, they said $1,300. They claimed that they have to send the blower to the manufacturer to make sure there is nothing wrong with it. That is if I'm not missing any parts.

2. I asked about the addition of Headers with the SC. According to Stillen, if you add headers to SC install, you will loose boost, However; the additional of the smaller pully included in the Stage 3, it will regain the boost.

3. The parts list was faxed from Stillen and her are exactly 100 pieces to the Stage 3 kit (including the box and packing matterial).

4. I found a local Dyno shop in Canoga Park, Precision Z Service. They seemed very nice and will do 3 dyno runs for $85 (with repeatable data). However, they cannot tune the engine. They refered me to Technosquare in Torance. According to their website, they offer substantial discount to Clubs (:iS:) if an entire day is booked.

5. Talked to Technosquare, and they were not helpful at all. The lady who pickedup the phone said that they will charge $550 to re-program "the Chip" plus shipping. When I asked what I needed done, she repeated the same thing. :banghead:
Then I asked if they can install the Stillen SC. She asked what car, and when I said for FX35, she put me on hold for a few min, and came back and said they cannot quote me a price since they have never worked on an FX. I mentioned that it was almost exactly the same as 350z, but she repeated the same thing, AGAIN. So, I asked the obvious, that how much would it cost for a 350z and she put me on hold agin. then she came back and said $1500. I think they were just pulling prices out of their ..... hAtSS.

a penny for your thoughts...

When calling Technosquare you need to ask for Tadashi who does all the tuning there. Ask to talk to him personally. What the Yoshi (the girl on the phone) was referring to for the $550 was probably the ECU reflash (much more aggressive timing maps) that is available for the some of the FX models. Two brothers Howard and Richie does all the installs and custom body and performance work in that shop. They are VERY good and meticulous but takes a long time complete a project. The $1500 price is probably what they told Yoshi to tell you. They do a LOT of work on Z's.

No disrespect or anything, and I didn't mean to be rude. If they are seeing this thread, I apologize. It was just very frustrating getting a response like that.

I own and IT Consulting firm and we provide "service". If I gave my customers that kind of response, I'd be out of business 10 years ago.

If I know I can get the best out of Technosqurare for a few hunderd more, I'd jump at the change and leaving my car for a few days to be worked on right, no prob.

No problem...you are not the only one that has felt that way. But they are a good shop that does quality work. I would call and try and speak to Tadashi personally and see if he can do the tuning for the stillen. Then talk to Howard or Richie and see if they would be willing to do the install. I don't know how long it would take but I think it would take a bit longer then it would at stillen. At stillen they do many installs of this kit and would probably be your best bet...after all it is their kit.

Stillen said they don't reprogram the ECU. you think Stillen is still the better choice? please note that I have,

DC headers, Nismo S-tune Exhaust, Looking to Replace the OEM Cat, and JW Popcharger with Carbon-Fiber Intake Tube. The 1/2" Motordyne Spacer will have to go away, of course.

Then I would still have stillen do the install and talk to Tadashi beforehand and ask him if he can do a custom tune for you after then stillen install and the mods you have. It won't be cheap but doable.
