Bar Keepers Friend

For my stainless exhaust tips, I used Bar Keepers Friend last night, and I'm gonna try it on my wheels this weekend. I live in Iowa, so I deal with all of Mother Nature's elements all year round. They aren't perfect, but after using this, it removed almost all of the rust & dullness that was on them for about 1 year. Sorry, I forgot to take before & after pics.

Here are some of my tips, I worked at an Infiniti dealership and here are some things I remember.

1- If ever you get paint from the lines on the road on the bottom of your car or doors you can remove them by using peanut butter... Just rub it like you would wax and that will do the trick

2- Not sure if this one actually works... If ever you live where there is snow this could be helpful ... Ever wake up on a cold morning turn on the eat and your windows get foggy? Well try cleaning your inside window with hair shampoo, let it dry and remove with a dry cloath...

That's it for me :)

How do you remove the front door speaker covers? I tried to remove them but they don't come loose, just bend. I'm afraid if I pull to hard I'll brake something.

always carry an ABSORBER (synthetic chamois) in your fx

use the coin wash frequently.. hit it with rinse, soap, rinse and you will need one cycle of the wash.. take it for a spin and the rims will be dry.. then use the absorber to dry the door jambs and hatch jamb.. then windows/roof.. then finish the rest and go back to get drips.. open and close the doors a few times.

once a week, takes about 45 minutes or less. obviously the drying takes the longest but it is worth it.

OHHH and paint your moldings body color.. looks 100x better and saves lots of aggravation with trim detailer.

"Don't let the dealer detail your car before you pick it up"
Trust me... No one cares like you do.
They almost always subcontract it out to a carwash that uses nasty tire blacks and silicone sprays that totally fork up your hard work.
Even if they don't sub it out, the same still applies.
Plus. You already washed and waxed it before you dropped it off so why are they washing it again?
I know it sounds odd.
Request that they not detail it next time.
You won't regret it.

Try Griot's Garage Spray-On Car Wash for removing sap and bird crap... great on windows, too! The kit comes with super thick micro-fiber towels. It also smells like an island cocktail but don't drink. I keep a small spray bottle (Target) of this amazing stuff in my glove box.

hell fucking yea! tell the dealer youll pick up the car with allof the packaging tape & window chalk still on the car. then take it to a well respected & well known area detailer for a new car prep mini-detail.

I use Aerospace 303 on the exterior plastic. Pretty good stuff. But I don't like the finish on the dash. Anyone have any great dressings for interior plastic?

use less product on the dash. wipe dash after application a few times to reduce the glare. 303 is the best stuff so you might as well make it work. this is what i do & it looks great afterwords!

Guys how to remove hard water spots on paint :-( Car wash doesn't help.
depending on how bad the water spot stains are will determine the method for removal. light stuff can be removed with light rotary machine polishing. medium stuff removed with rotary compounding then rotary machine polishing.
for the worst case situations for really bad water staining a light wetsanding, then compound & poilsh with a rotary machine will be the last resort for full removal.

are you experienced to take care of this yourself? if not then find a good detalier in your area.

NEVER LET YOU DEALERSHIP WASH/DETAIL YOU CAR UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!!!!

i which the car wash boy at the dealership drop the mitten on the ground and pick it up and continue to to wash a customer's car.

my last ride was lease and i didn't really care so i sent it in to the dealership to get a light scratch fix. end up with that scratch gone and a billion swirl marks. they didn't even bother washing the roof

Actually don't go to you dealership for anything other than maintenance and warranty :p

Meritline.com has microfiber towels that are around 2.00 bux for each or 10 for 5 that are awesome. Ive been using them for about a year cant beat them. I use them for the inside and outside. CHeap but great and cost effective.
